I need help!

Well I have two weeks of school left, then finals...and I am home FREE! Done with high school forever! This semester in English we have given three speeches (ranging from 3 minutes to 10 minutes in length) and one group presentation (taking up 50 minutes). My last class assignment is the one I thought would be the easiest but has turned out to be the hardest, it is to write a no more than one page paper that I have to read to the class titled "This I Believe." It is supposed to relativity light hearted, and we were asked to stay away from religious views. We can only pick one topic, we are supposed to use a personal story or example from our life to explain why we believe that. For example in years past a girl has written about how every girl needs a huge purse that is about as shallow as it gets, it can go deeper. But I am stuck on ideas if you have any on a topic and would like to share it would be greatly appreciated if shared.

Dad gave me the idea of why Senior Prom was a waste of time and money...which I think is a good topic, but are people going to think I am saying this just because I am not going to mine due to the fact that I have no date? So if you have any ideas on how to elaborate on this topic feel free to do so.
