We all know the story with my ticket, but the story of my now red bumper is only now out for you to read...
After school I went over to JoNeals to pick Kyra up from Gma she didn't go to school because she had a really rough day yesterday, and took her to OT.
After the OT came out to get her I put her shoes in the corner and went out to my car because I had to run (drive) to the library like 2 miles away to take a movie back well you know how down town is one way streets EVERYWHERE with lots of unprotected left turns. So I had to go in a big giant figure 8 to get to the library and back to OT.
Well on the corner of Placer and California Street I am sitting behind a UPS truck waiting and waiting, well I missed to first light, no big deal I still have fourty-five minutes to get half a block down the road, so the next one comes and I am sitting in the middle of the intersection waiting for a turn (at an unprotected left). When the Crazy Lady behind me just sees the green light and hits her accelerator and then hit me! Whatever.
So the light turns yellow and Sheriff officer passes she backs of my bumper I turn (like I had planned) because the parking lot is right there, and there is no where to park on those busy streets, and there is no way in heck I was getting out of my car in that intersection because people were already coming from the other direction. So I pull into the parking lot the lady stayed at the red light, I get out of my car walk down to the street and she is gone (lke a freight train, gone like yesterday...) Yeah no where to be found! So I called dad, no answer. What is a girl supposed to do, so yes I was brave and called mom.
All these memories came flashing back when Amanda got rear ended in Joan's car and the Mexican (or was it Asian) Mafia showed up. Anyway...
She told me to call 911, I didn't think it was that drastic but I did, the kind lady takes my name, the description of the car where I was etcetera. But I didn't get the Crazy's licence plate number...because she didn't have any!!! They told me to wait for an officer to show up, I thought it would be twenty minutes thirty or forty tops, knowing I was on the bottom of the totem pole when it came to emergency response.
I finally get a hold of dad and he tells to write everything down so I don't forget it and to call the insurance lady. So I did, well it is time for Kyra to be done so I run up to the door to get her and we wait some more...and hour and twenty minutes later, after I called the non emergency number an officer showed up, handed me a card with the number I had just called on it and told me they couldn't really do anything because I didn't have her licence plate number. STUPID! It's not like I expected them to be able to but he didn't even pretend to act like he was writing a report like the insurance lady said he should.
So here I sit with a red bumper and a posting on craigs list to see if anyone saw it knows anything more. Oh well, I do like the color red and there isn't much more damage other than a few scratches and little dent. I'd hate to see what her little red sports car looks like especially since I am pretty sure the hood went under my bumper.

I am alright, in case you were wondering.
love ya :D
You can't see it all, there are lots of little scratches up above the little fold and a dent you can kind of see.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your car, I'm glad you are ok!
ReplyDeleteHold on, I called 911 because these guys were popping up out of no where!
There really is no reason for him to write a report. The insurance company doesn't need it, and its a waste of time for the officer because its not going to go anywhere. Take a picture of your bumper, any idiot at AllSate can see something hit you, it doesn't look anything like you backing up into a dumpster or something. You don't have any information to get a hold of that lady or anything else. His report would say something like:
Erin B (party 1) was in the left turn lane at California and Placer Street on Xday at Xtime. P1 claims an unknown party (P2) collided with the rear of her car going appoximately Xmph. P1 vehicle shows signs of a rearend collision. P2 failed to stop after collision.
No further investigating will take place, there is no information to find P2. P2 is at fault.
Officer I'mLate ForDinner. ID#12345
IMO- I wouldn't report it to your insurance, save yourself the deductible and buff off the paint yourself. I mean this in kindness with all the love in my heart, a report is a waste of his time.
haha you funny, well mom and dad already called the insurance company and she told me file a report and if we get an estimate to fix it to let her know so she can take the next steps...I don't know I was just doing what I was told.
