My Birthweek

I decided this year to start a new tradition. I no longer have just a birthday, I have a birthweek. Mine started on Wednesday and goes until tomorrow.
On Wednesday we went to the lake (see previous post)...and we started to tie dye.
On Thursday we actually did tie dye our shirts we had tied the day before, Dakota and his friends Grayson's shirts turned out so flipping sick! I was jealous I wanted to steal them. Shelby's was pretty awesome too. Mine and Kyra's however not so much. :(
And on Friday I had the branch/institute summer kick off, welcome the graduating seniors BBQ. It was Jamaican themed. We didn't have quite the turn out we were hoping for and the dance ended at 10 which I think is the earliest a branch dance has ended in the history of our branch. It was fun though, and we saw a few new faces. After the dance ended and we cleaned up Dorothy and Celina came over and we slept on the trampoline. I kept waking up because I was freezing so at five I decided to go inside and Celina and Dorothy both quickly followed.
On Saturday I got up at 11, Celina and Dorothy both had to leave early to go to work and I just kept falling asleep. Mom and dad got back from the cabin at 1ish and we were supposed to leave to the lake, however after asking 95% of the people I know if they wanted to go with us, I could not find a single one, not one. So I had the privilege of attended McKenna's (Sheri's Daughter) dance recital; it is safe to say I would rather been anywhere else on my birthday. When we got home dad wanted to go to the lake with our family but I was angry at Shelby, Kyra was leaving to go to Sheri's, Dakota was at Grayson's and I wasn't in a mood to go to the lake. I know my saying lately has been "Put a smile on that pretty little face of your and pretend to be happy" mostly because when you are pretending to be happy you actually become happy. But I was very angry. So we decided to go out to dinner. We went to Guadalajara, it was delicious. But before we did that we got to go refrigerator shopping at sears. Loads of fun! So after dinner I decided to suck it up and go Lindsey and Kyle Hastings' Wedding Reception. It was actually very nice and I ran in to a few other people who were also at a wedding reception on their birthday (but they were old so it didn't help me feel any less lame). I did however run in to Christie Z there so we decided we needed to do something for my birthday, on the shuttle ride back to my car it was just me and her and Jeremy Brown (the driver) and we couldn't think of anything to do, at all! So we decided to go and kidnap Ariel and Merete and we went and walked across the sundial bridge. Dad had extended my curfew to midnight just because it was birthday. However Merete had to be home by 11 and Christies parents say her curfew is midnight but they start calling her at 1115 to see where she is so I just dropped them all off and was home 45 minutes early. Oh how I felt like a loser. That is okay though.
Then on Sunday at church President Crandall announced that we would have the left over sundae stuff from the BBQ on Friday after church...because it was my birthday. Yes in sacrament meeting. Only a little bit embarrassing. Then after church we were all standing in the hall eating and people are trying to leave but Sister Maire goes and brings them back inside, I was like what the heck, and as soon as they walk back in the door Justin and Jeremy start singing happy birthday super loud, which of course lead to everyone in the building singing resulting in me turning BRIGHT RED! I wanted to crawl in a hole and die. After church the missionaries came over dinner and we learned that it was one of there birthdays on the 14th (the next day) so they stayed for our family party. And after everyone sang to me...again, I relight the candles and added another one and made everyone sing to him. It was pretty funny, he was more embarrassed than I was earlier that day, which I didn't think was possible.
Over all it was a pretty good birthweek, even though I am convinced that the older you get the suckier and suckier they get. As a wise woman once said, I just call her Kelly though. "I am starting to hate birthdays now...they don't seem to meet even my lowest expectations." I also thought Gpa Tavey was full of BS but now I am realizing it really is "Just another day..."
My birth week is not technically over yet. It is much like a greeting card holiday, I just use it to get the kids to do stuff for me, like give me the channel changer, or get me a glass of water, ya know the stuff they used to do when they were younger (and kinder) and loved to do your favors.
love ya :D
